Focus: GA4 Enhanced Measurement • When to use it • When not to use it • How to avoid duplication with GTM
Enhanced Measurement is a GA4 feature that automatically tracks common user interactions without needing Google Tag Manager (GTM) or custom code.
It’s a fast way to collect basic engagement signals—especially in early setups or smaller projects.
In this course, we rely on Google Tag Manager for controlled, scalable tracking.
If you implement the same event in GTM and Enhanced Measurement is also enabled, you may create duplicate events.
That makes analysis and reporting unreliable.
Enhanced Measurement is great for fast baseline tracking, but for a professional measurement plan and clean data,
GTM-driven events are usually the better long-term approach.
